...My local Tesco has a large ailse end display of Stongbow cider in 12 can packs,2 packs for £17,thats 24 cans @ 70.8p per can.Ok so far but in the 'beer aisle' in its usual place there are also 24 can packs for £14 or 58.3p per can.On this normal Staurday morning shop I saw just three trolleys with 1x 24 can pack (me and 2 others) and at least a dozen trolleys with 2x12 can packs.2x12 cans for £17 or 1x24 can for £14 good innit....

I think people see a banner that says savings, offers etc but don't actually look to see how much of a bargain it is. A while ago in our local Tosco, packs of tube yoghurts were selling 'on offer' 2 for £2, whilst singles were 99p each!

Morrison's this week were selling 900g packs of mince for £4 and 500g packs for £2. I bought 2 x 500g, obviously.

Bought 4 single tins of B/Beans for 49p each at Tesco today....next to the "bargain pack" of 4 tins..£2.49p....makes you wonder eh?

Consider how many pack of Stella they stock in bottles and cans.

We usually have a few in the fridge and I buy them by looking at the small print on the label......the price per litre. It varies between £1.50 and £3.50 a litre, and you don't have to be good at maths to read the price.

Tesco are quite good at selling wine half price at £4.99 then offering a special 2 for £10 on the same wine

My local Tesco today had Green petrol at "£1.36.9..with another 5p/litre off for spending £50...filled up with the cheapest fuel for yonks....

i shop on line and only use the own brand stuff. Tescos made me laugh sent me an email with a voucher for 7.50 of the next shop if i spent 75 pounds, if they bothered to check my account i only ever spend 50 max on each shop! stupid generic email!

its same on loads of stuff. 2 crisp and dry bottles are nearly always cheaper than large one, and even few weeks ago the large one was on offer, but STILL about 15p dearer than 2 smalls ones

I sympathise Mrs O. Before I moved I lived in a town which at one time could boast no less than 10 different food chain stores yet eventually was reduced to a large, expensive Coop. I can understand people shopping there when they have no choice but how they survive in places where there is competition is a mystery to me. Their prices are ridiculous.

I know mike. On the good news front Sainsburys are opening a supermarket here later this year so at least it will give the Co-op a run for their money.

i used to live in a town where there were three co-op stores which had bought out the local corner shop, there was only a mcolls or over priced local produce! I like where i live now as we have every food shop going!

Two years ago Sainsbury's opened a small store in our local shopping mall in a space previously occupied by M&S who pulled out. Prices are somewhat higher than in the large Sainsbury's and choice is very limited but they are open early morning to late at night. "This will finish off the Coop (right across the street)", thought I, but no, they are still open.
