the only thing i know about chavs is that it stands for chemlsford average (bad spelling) but that could be wrong! sorry x

just offer them a bottle of white lightning, you'll have them on side for life.
lend them "twenny pee" and theyll take a bullet for you

Heard that chav derives from the North East/Geordie word 'charver'. It basically means the same thing (ie. applied to the same people), but it's been used for years. One bloke on the radio said he'd heard it when he was a kid back in the fifties.

Im sory but im not much help on gaining chav trust etc being a student and all (if you are one as well you know what i mean!), but i was directed by a fellow student on to this chav website, its kind of like the other side of the coin if you like, which you might find enlightening if not, very entertaining! Its only a bit of a laff!

Oh just found out this one might be more use to you (its from the same website, but its the home page)

You can tell i don't have any thing better to do 'Sigh'. It might help i don't know.

i heard it stands for Council Houses And Violence

Up here in the north-east chavs are called charvers but it varies from region to region, they are called NED's (Non Educated Delinquent) in Scotland. As for going undercover and gaining charv trust i think your aiming too high. Im sure that the word charver derives from gypsies or romanies. Did you see the BBC and SKY 1 documentaries? They were miles off their definitions of charvs. They claimed that Posh & Becks are charvs lol.

It's easy. Get a guy, dress him from head to foot in Burberry, then the latest Adidas trainers.

Make sure you're in Manchester.

Have your man in an awfully 'customised' Vauxhall Nova (wheels that are stupidly big, awful bumpers, etc).

Make sure he can 'talk da talk, innit bruv.'

There's your trust and (not wanted) popularity amongst Chav-ville.

P.S. Are you serious???

just come to my home town and youll get enough chav coverage to make a feature length production.

you cant get away from them round here

i've heard the word charver for ages (im from the north east), i call them townies instead, i think chav is just a shortened version

the word 'chav' means, council house and violent, i am an ex-chavette so i know wot its like to b a chav, and then i grew up!!!!!    i wasnt a bad chav but a maturer-then-everyone-else-chav. they have been around for ages, i used 2 call my chav buddies 'alrite chav' but bak then they dint know wot it ment.
