I play a Les Paul, so for me I prefer a glass slide, it seems o fit better with the longer sustain
my guitar is a jet and i also use a gass slide now and again

Many Thanks and No Thanks Doc....smile....I'm okay with open tunings, but I'm surprised to learn about the need for a high action!...first I've heard of it. Is it really essential, as I aint read about it anywhere and those who use it haven't mentioned it!...hey ho, I'll just go to my local charity shop and buy a cheapo gittar!...by the way, I play an old Eko six string and I think I may have met your Eko 12er in an earlier question some time ago!...smile.

I think it's fair for anyone to state which slide they prefer, but not to recommend one. What's comfortable for some players, might not suit others. I prefer wood/bone or glass, some prefer metal (which I hate).
You have to try different materials/sizes/weights ... even fingers before you find a technique to suit you.

You don't actually 'need' an overly high action to play slide, but it sure makes the whole process less infuriating when you're starting out.

Sounds just like my Eko Doc...and the action aint that low either and as I'd like to play along with one of my guitar heroes, John Fahey, I think I'll risk it.

Many Thanks you too Naz.

A socket set can yield some nice weighty slides if you find that a metallic one is for you.

Know anyone with a wet tile-saw? Buy 'em a bottle of wine with a straight neck and ask if they'll cut the neck off for you once they've 'enjoyed' it.
