Why don't my new website shortcuts work?

I've got a new vista aptop and I copied over all my internet shortcuts from my favourites folder from the old one to the new one - no problem with any of those, but every new site I've attempted to add to favourites doesn't work.
I get a message saying 'the target is not valid, go to the internet shortcut property sheet and make sure the target is correct'.
I don't know what this is.
