Well, it's cloudy, grey and quite breezy here at the moment, so no idea how the day is going to unfold. Have a ton of work and other things to do today, including a guy turning up at 9.30 to repair our lounge blind. In lounge we have a pale wooden Venetian blind on the front window, quite a big one. Have had it about 4 years. Last week I was cleaning it with a damp cloth, and as I was cleaning one of the slats from right to left, as I got to the end on the left it just snapped off! Where the cords run down thru the blinds on each side it had snapped from the left end where the cords are about 5 inches in. Couldn't believe it. So he is coming round to take out a spare slate from the very bottom where it touches the window sill, plus all the ones below and including broken one, put in and re thread the spare slat and all the rest below! Talk about fiddly! Rather him than me lol, but it looks ridiculous where it has  broken so can't leave it.

Then will see if bin men turn up seeing as we had bank holiday yesterday - your guess is as good as mine! Hope everyone has a good day! x

Couldn't be simply glued then ?

Looks grey out there here too. Time for a morning coffee, I guess.

Morning OG. Nope, that was my first thought, just glue it.But the way it's snapped, and the length of snapped bit, mueller no matter how long you stand there and hold it with glue, the sec you let go it just falls off. I've even tried supporting it etc..... just easier to get the spare slat swappe wit he broken one....

Enjoy your coffee, I'm just making one too lol.

Good morning, as Mr U is off to dentist this mrning I thought I would walk down with him and go into the Range opposite for a few bits and pieces.  He can then come and find me when he has had his check up.

This afternoon we have a man coming about our bifolds, one side came off the runner and although we got it back the door is now difficult to close and we have to leave the key in the lock,

I am about to join you in a coffee, just heard the kettle go on.

Good morning Smow and all. Quite sunny here, sounds like you have got our yesterdays weather!

We got our recycled bins emptied yesterday (normal bin day), but they have not emptied the garden bins as usual. People have left them out, I suppose hoping they will collect today.

Hoping to get bedding changed and washed today, and get in the garden as I was too late yesterday when I got home from the shops.

Have a good one everybody.

The blind man's just been lol. Ok, the man who repaired the blind lol.  He's swapped the slats and done a good job so all good. Bin men have been and even left them back at the end of our driveway, and not next doors! Amazing lol.

Morning ubasses calda - I haven't been in The Range for years, don't even know where my nearest one is tbh, but I did used to like it. I've got washing on at the moment but it is pretty chilly out, don't know it will even dry. Will give it half hour and see if it brightens up.

Morning all,

Glorious sunshine here today - will get the dogs blankets washed and out on the line so that I can sanatise the washing machine afterwards.

Love going to The Range!! The husband calls it the 8th circle of hell even worse than Ikea lol!!!

Just waiting for some packages with holiday clothes to turn up - already had a couple - including my swimsuit or as the husband calls it 'burkini' covers me from neck to ankle - now way I am getting burnt!!

Good morning everyone from a sunny south-west. I think it's somewhat cooler than last week...but sun is the important part for me. I get rather down and lethargic when it's grey out.

I'm off for my occasional trip to lidl/aldi. They are practically next door to each other and very convenient after just a 10 minute bus ride.

Into the shower now...then my coffee. Have a good day all.

I meant to post that almost an hour ago!

Hi all. Dont know why I am so late, just disorganised as usual I suppose. Just a pottering day today .

Talking of blinds , I have a fabric blind, not a roller blind but the sort with slats. As it has been up a few years its a bit mucky. Any ideas how I can get it clean?. It would be too difficult to get it into the washing machine and dry cleaners say they cant help. I am a bit reluctant to chuck it as the fabric is pretty.

Have a happy day everyone

Found this for your Rosetta.

The steps below will navigate you through the entire cleaning process:

Grab a microfibre cloth and start to wipe the dust off each slat. Don’t rush this process.

Start at one end of the blinds (left to right, for example) and wipe every slat from top to bottom. Make sure you dust both sides.

During this process, shake out your microfibre cloth to remove the particles from it. Do this away from the blinds and outdoors, if possible.

Grab your vacuum cleaner and pop the brush attachment onto the hose.

Start hoovering each slat from top to bottom. Again, don’t be too hasty. Take your time, it may be worth unhooking the slats, if possible.

Optional: Hold a hard object (like a small book) behind each slat as you hoover it because this will make the surface sturdier and easier to vacuum.

Repeat for both sides of the slats.

Pop some towels down on the windowsill underneath the vertical blinds and on the floor to catch any drips. Newspaper can be used, but be careful that the print doesn’t stain the sill or walls!

In a bucket, pour a measure of gentle detergent (non-bio).

Fill the rest of the bucket with warm water (not boiling!)

Grab a second microfibre cloth and dip it in the water.

Wring the cloth out. You want the cloth wet enough to remove the grime but not saturated so the blinds end up soaking wet!

Pinch the cloth around the first slat and pull gently downwards to rub the cloth over the material and dislodge the grime. Work from the top to the bottom.

Rinse your cloth in the bucket after you’ve cleaned a slat.

Repeat for the rest of the slats.

If the water gets too dirty, replace it with fresh water and a gentle detergent.

Optional: Add some bicarbonate of soda to the bucket to help deal with tough stains and to neutralise bad smells.

Allow the blinds to dry naturally.

How could the blind man tell if he'd done the job properly?

His guide dog told him

Our bin men came yesterday so you might be lucky. xxx

Thanks DDIL I shall give that a try, though its the fabric itself which is the bigger problem
