I suggested making Politics a main heading some years ago and it was agreed - but it's yet to happen.

A sub-section of 'News'.
Under News section
That's what the plus is for , yes?

there is no + on ipad or iPhone . that's to NB1
Pointless.

Everything in there disappears.

thought I would ask Roy rather than be told it's not a news item, but a current situation
A good deal of what's in News isn't News.
The sub sections are pointless, no one looks at them so if you want to get your post noticed use the main category.
They should drop the subsections of news and call it "News, Politics and current affairs"

I agree 100 per cent Tora

I think they are better merging it as I suggested above.
I disagree, TTT. Too much traffic in one section sends 'live' threads off the front page very quickly. Better to separate them, making those generating lively interest readily available for longer. Once threads disappear from view people tend to forget they're there.

the problem shows now in the News, Often stuff is put in there, isn't the News, I am guilty of this myself and had my post removed to the Politics section, I fully understand something like Christmas being a subcategory as it's an annual thing but not something that is as ongoing as varying topics of the day

naomi, 13:16, CA has 0 posts, politics has 4. news has thousands, I can't see it making any difference.
If they were all main headings, the thousands in News would be split between them - thereby leaving 'News' for news. I think that's the problem. Because the other categories are hidden, everything gets shoved in 'News'.
