I have known this lady for about 50 years but she was always a "strong" person - may cock a walk. Am very fond of her.

Anyway she came down to me on Friday and asked (because she is now redundant) could I get her into my Credit Union with some money

Now my CU has become very strict you need to live in the BT etc (which she doesn't) - I rang my boss and she told me what to do - get it in my name and bring down a utilities bill of mine etc. Fine - I run up stairs and had a very quick shower and with pretty soaking hair - her and ran down to CU to get this thing done.

She had some forms to fill in etc no problem but thought it was sorta funny and easy enough to put £20,000 in the the CU. We are looking out for AML anti money laundering - CU has truly turned into like a bank and it is a serious organisation.

That night I emailed her and said I was delighted for her to be able to get in as it has become so strict - her answer - you know Jennyjoan don't know why you would stress about a thing like that - if I hadn't have got into yours I would have got it some other Credit Union. I was a little hurt at that attitude. I know if somebody done that for me - I would be forever grateful. She said you take life far too serious. That's me done. JJ would be hurt.

sorry last question - would you have been hurt. ^^^^
I do think you takes things too seriously and put way too much emphasis on money.
Last question....no, I wouldn't have been hurt.
Question Author
Ummmmm - you always said that about the money emphasis - couldn't care less about the money emphasis - talking about her attitude.
It seems as if they ere embarrassed to have had to seek help so are trying to cover it with an IDGAF attitude. Yes, i'd be a little hurt, but angry, too
Question Author
thank you confused.
JJ, you broke the rules for her? and your boss told you how to do it?? never mind hurt feelings, this sounds like serious stuff.
No, I wouldn't be hurt. You did her a small favour to which I assume she at least said thank you for?
Question Author
Also - told me I was a mug for working for 35 years voluntarily when there about new 10 people getting paid. I told her I started working all those years voluntarily and I remained to be so
your friend knows you better than anyone here, if she thinks you tke life too seriously, you probably do (by her stndards at least)
So there is £20k of her money in your name?
There could be consequences for both of you
Question Author
yes bednobs I am a terrible worrier and of course an anxious person - can I help that.
Question Author
hc - that was the mere thing I was worried about - the money is in my name - but thank god will be changed into her name in the next few weeks.
What you have just described is fraud ! a criminal offence!
well Conne I would be miffed for sure..but do not think I would have had the same generosity of spirit as you to do it in the first place !
Will the CU allow name changes on accounts?
She's not that bright a button if she doesn't know how to invest her own money safely - you did her a favour and she brushed it aside.

Sometimes takes a long time before we get the real measure of people.

Telling you that you are a 'mug' for being a volunteer is not something a friend would say either.
Question Author
to be honest - I don't think in a million years I would have asked her to get me an account in her Credit Union. She has become a little greedy. Her own CU only allows up to £15,000 but mine offers up to £20,000. She wanted that extra £5,0000 allowance
Question Author
^^^ allowance should be interest which we all get at Xmas time.
money is in an account with your name ??..oh dear..this could have consequences....
