a trolley dash - with £150 voucher for beers, wines and spirits! Almost right Lofty!!
So, I've phoned my nephew James, who is a student at Birmingham University, and told him he can have them - he's delighted!!
The raffle was for a donkey Sanctuary - I bought them in Devon when I was down there seeing my parents. Betty told me the other top prize was a framed water colour by a local artist, and she wasn't sure which prize was the First prize. So that's sorted!

Well, poor lad was knocked off his bike before Christmas (all that terrible snow we had, a van just couldn't stop) and he had a job in a newsagents from 5.30am till 9am then three evenings 6-9 - but he had to give up as he couldn't stand on his broken foot - which has now thankfully mended. His need is far greater than mine!! He's a smashing bloke and I'm so pleased to be able to give this to him, he deserves something nice.
Arrrr, what a lovely Auntie you are Mercia.

The one and only raffle I won, was many years ago - I got 32nd prize - it was a Fire Blanket - I tried to look pleased when the Scout Master handed it to me. (:0(

Awe, Den, never mind! I usually win chocolates, which I use at dinner parties or open them and leave them on the side in the kitchen for people to help themselves, I'm one of those unusual women who doesn't like chocolate! I think the worst raffle prize i won was a pair of flourescent pink hand knitted leg warmers, for somebody with very slim legs! I used to put them on my arms when It was my turn in the milking sheds!!
I'm with you Mercia on the chocolate front. My Husband has just started eating my easter egg from last year!

Ironically I will be working at chocolate festival this year, the exhibitors need not worry about me eating their profits!

No wonder your nephew was happy - a student being offered £150 of free booze isn't likely to grumble ;-)
I won a Danish Bacon caption competition and got 12 months' bacon & butter.

The shopkeeper who sold me the bacon got a week in Denmark and was entertained by the British ambassador
