After mulling things over, I have arranged to go into the local primary to do some 'work experience' with the aim of going back to teaching but switching to primary from secondary. Feeling quite excited + nervous - haven't worked for over eight years.
My brothers wife is a teacher, I have no idea how she keeps from killing the monsters. She teaches out in the community for kids who can't/won't go to school.
You will be okay once you get started. Crank up your OH and send him back to teaching too.
Secondary schools without Sixth Forms have lost many dedicated teachers and Sixth Form Colleges are not really equipped to teach non A level pupils now the school leaving age has been changed yet again.
KS1 (key stage 1 or infants) is the little kids - up to age 7. I think I can cope with year 6 (age 10 - 11) but I'm used to working with older pupils/students 14 - 18. However, I do now have quite a bit experience of littler people and my 'professional' outlook has changed from when I choose my career at 18.
Sherrardk.......you can now look forward to all those extra days off in Winter when there's a few flakes of snow and our education system grinds to a halt ;-)
