The daughter in Devon has decided to get broadband. After some research she phoned Talk Talk to discuss her options.

Why are you phoning....asked the TalkTalk girl....look online.

I just wanted to discuss it with a person....said the daughter.

You've seen our prices...said the girl....you've just phoned hoping it'll get you a discount. Look online.

End of discussion.

TalkTalk then started calling her....she didn't pick up until she had made up her mind to go with them.

So....said the TalkTalk girl.....can I ask who you are with at present.

No-one...said the D......I don't have broadband yet.

Ahh...I see....Bye....said the TalkTalk girl and she hung up.

So...we are both puzzled....any ideas why she wouldn't want to discuss it with the daughter...why she would hang up....and any recommendations please... not BflippingT.....

Don't fancy the Spice girls then?

What about the Nolan Sisters?
Question Author
Prefer Fascinating Aida ....☺
I've been with talktalk for years and never had any problems with them at all.
We like PlusNet, they are very good.
We use Sky but there isn't much choice here and it is soooo slow! Had talk talk knock the door and really didn't take to the sales people on the doorstep or the local people complaining about the service (but the internet here is truly awful, less than 1 thingy of speed).

She might have been if they had let her join, Paddy....they must have a reason not to want new custom...

Looks like it may be PlusNet....x

I had eight thingys, Sherr...now with all my problems it's dropped to three thingys....despite renewing everything for which I am responsible and having a new bathroom fitted....x
When we ring to complain they say to do a speed test, but by then it is so bad that it times out before it can do the test! Nightmare when the sproglets are on the net too.
Question Author
I know.....if I'm on here and the phone rings the internet crashes. BT couldn't see this so last week when I was getting them to check...using my mobile...I asked them to ring my landline...they did and could see my internet went awol....so they sent the new hub....it's not the problem but some days you just want to plait fog.....or paint the toenails you can no longer reach rather than disagree with the person in the land far away....don't you?....☺
I don't understand it at all, we seem to have a myriad of problems that are no ones fault. I just want it to work! Even Sky TV is wonky at the moment, x
I don't understand either, it's not like that at all here. Our internet's open nearly all day and people can still ring us on the landline....
Question Author
That's how I was for almost three years, Boxy...trouble free.....then it changed suddenly and there is no more I can do at this end....but some help from BT would be good.

I haven't had to deal with them...to discuss any problems til now....and now I find that it is flaming well impossible......
Boxtops, we live in the sticks and we have some kind of crap wiring in the road. The Internet companies don't recognise our special number thing attached to our phone number for Internet. I think if up you have some sort of weird problem they would rather palm you off than sort it out. But if you do a search thing for Internet speeds that other people around you get no one gets more than 1 and a bit. I find it really bizarre given that we live a stones throw from a particular military base that specialise in communication, their Internet has got to be brilliant!
Do you know that plus net is a BT subsidiary.
Yes it is.

I am with Plusnet, my daughter deals with them as she pays for it but she is a very careful and selective shopper and an IT Manager, so no problems to report.
Question Author
Caslass...I wouldn't be surprised to find out my butcher was a BT subsidiary..
nothing is simple anymore....well except for me........☺
Doesn't really matter who you go with, it'll still be using BT's copper........
Question Author
I know, Craft...and that's my problem.....I'd leave BT like a shot but I'd still be having to deal with them.
Just shows how much I know! I always understood PlusNet was/is a subsidiary of BT??
