We buy Macushield when they are on offer, one a day.

Otherwise any that have zeaxanthin, lutein.  The consultant recommended them.

No idea if they are effective but they do no harm

I was also advised to take Macushield when I had my last eye test.

I have no problems with vision but they can see the beginnings of it when they examine the back of the eye.

I have been recommended Ocuvite with lutein by the Eye Hospital.

3 for price of 2 at Boots.

I think most of the things that call themselves eye vitamins are basically the same, and are worth taking.

I have a suspicion that certain optician chains have done a deal to recommend particular brands.

It was suggested to me by the optician that I take Lutein. They were on offer at Boots, so I stocked up. They are by Vitabiotics and contain Bilberry, Lutein & Zeaxanthin. It is also a good idea to eat foods like green veg.

Chris, thanks for the link. I was diagnosed with AMD a year ago but was referred to the eye hospital this year for some special tests which I had 6 weeks ago and further different tests last week. I will now have to go every 3 months, so I will find the info in your link very helpful.

I don't know whether it's coincidence, but I was told I had Macular degeneration a few years ago so took Macushield for about a year. The last time I had an eye test, there was no sign of the AMD. It doesn't hurt to take them, and your eyes are so precious.

I really really hesitate to recommend this

but they DO say half way down - that NICE doesnt think they work
