Just back from hols and catching up on the news. Did that foreign athlete who was possibly injured and refused to attend the training camp ever compete? How did he do?

He did turn up and didn't do well.
ignore that^ The chap I was thinking of was British
If you mean Phillips Idowu who was born in Hackney then he did turn up but failed to get through the qualifying round.

Thanks. Apologies for assuming he was fireign.
why did you assume he was foreign?
Hackney council are painting a post box brown to match his crap performance
LOL Elvis!
Phillips Idowu was in my opinion shabbily treated by the British athletics establishment. And actually the athletics performance, for all the emphasis on team togetherness and the macho attitude of van Commenee I think was disappointing. If you apply the standards he himself set
Idowu's performance was embarrassing, he obviously wasn't fit, a fully fit but inferior quality Brit long jumper should have competed in his place
He competed in the triple jump.
I agree Joe Luke. But not as much of a fiasco as the Tae Kwon Doe where a superior person was missed from the team , despite being best in the world.

He was in the triple jump field but never actually competed MT

and anyway another Brit long jumper would have still done better n the triple jump than the pathetic Idowu
My 'never actually competed' comment was TIC
I know.

We all makes mistakes joe ....even you .
Idowu's so pathetic he was the 2008 Indoor World Champion, and the 2009 World Champion.................don't be so pathetic yourself JoeLuke.
^ Past glories mean feck all in relation to this Olympics, he may well have been World Champ in 2009 but in 2012 he was a pathetic unfit also-ran
and maybe no other briton had jumped the qualifying distance.............
