the little icons in the task bar that tell me i am online just shows a red X - even though I am online...!

and the one that shows me a battery level has disappeared altogether...i opened a desktop gadget that is a battery monitor and that says i have no battery at all!

whats going on? i clearly have a battery that although its life is reduced, it still gives me about 30 mins power

this happened about a month ago - im not that bothered, but would like it fixed if possible...

ay ideas?

cheers (compaq presario f500, on win7 and firefox)

in the control panel, it will not allow me to change the battery icon from off to on!...for some reason its the only one that is black and says off on it...
This might get your battery icon back. (The instructions are based upon earlier versions of Windows but hopefully you'll find something similar):

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Power Settings > Advanced > Put a tick alongside 'Always show icon on the taskbar' > Apply > OK.
Oh, it looks like you're ahead of me. (Crossed posts, while I was trying to google your other missing icon problem).

It's probably some sort of registry error. System Restore, perhaps?

cheers buenchico...

not sure when it happened though really so no idea when to restore it to... not sure if the restore points go that far back either...mmm...maybe be its time for a reformat...

i do them every so often to give me a nice clean new machine... tedious process though...

could the battery be failing? slowly...? it has definitely got less life in it.
any thoughts on the other icon?
