Im sorry I dont know,But before you use the leaves for cooking hang them up in a brown paper bag for a couple of weeks,Takes away the bitterness.

 I offer you two suggestions:

  1. Using a cotton bud to apply, wipe the affected leaves with brandy (cheap variety of course!) or
  2. Buy some horticultural soap from a nursery or garden centre and apply according to the instructions.

Both methods are organically sound.

cut off the worst affected bits and scrub the trunk and branches with a brush dipped in metholated or surgical spirit, an old toothbrush is good. As a precaution, rinse the leaves before use for the rest of the year
