I realise I'll probably be criticised and castigated for this question, however ....
It's impossible not to have read in the press the recent events surrounding the parents of Madeleine McCann, their removal as suspects in their daughter's disappearance and the release of the Police files, however, what I couldn't believe when I read it was an alleged quote from their 'spokesperson' stating that the McCanns were 'considering legal action against the Portugese Police' ....
Am I missing something here, or didn't these educated people leave their children alone in a hotel in a foreign country like unwanted guests so they could swan off for a meal with their friends in a bistro which they claimed gave an ideal view of the childrens' room (albeit we now know that isn't the case) only for them to find later than the unspeakable had occurred ?
Please don't think I'm emotionless and, as a parent, I can't imagine any more of a hell than the McCanns are going through, however, what seems to be forgotten here is that Madeleine's parents are, by no stretch of the imagine, entirely innocent in the circumstances surrounding their daughter's disappearance .... THEY left their children alone .... and now THEY are 'considering legal action against the Portugese Police' ....

I too think they should be charged, but i don't agree with all this anger towards them, they and a lot of others are paying the ultimate price for their stupidity and neglect.
That is something that they will have to live with for the rest of their lives, the if only's will haunt them for ever more. Believe me they will be beating themselves up, emotionally, without the rest of us doing it too.

i agree the twins should be removed from their care their are outstanding concerns about their ability t care for and protect their children and whilst they have to live with this so will the twins. if they are travelling around so much do the twins expect their parents to go missing next they deserve to grow up safe and secure
You are right pinktwink it would have been of no use whatsoever, they should never have left the kids alone like they did, they're both highly educated professionals and should have known better.
This amber alert is a system that alerts motorists or members of the public that a child has been abducted, that way they have a better chance of finding the child in the first few hours, which is crucial (sp) in any abduction.
They have a similar system in place in the US and it has proven to be of great success.

I find the whole episode bizarre
From the moment she went missing to this day the parents have acted abnormally
An audience with the Pope and flying to the USA is just absurd, as for Gerry McCanns media interviews..well to me he seemed to enjoy them
And all that bollox about "Team McCann" just about sums it up, and appointing a spokesperson?
An audience with Social Services would be more suffice
