Hello, Im selling some stuff on Ebay and have just had a message from a man.. asking me if he can collect the item. This is fine however he has not yet bidded on the item and it doesnt finish for 2 days. He has asked for my full postcode which I'm not happy about giving him as he hasnt won the item. Am I being stupid? Shall I tell him he can collect and I will give him my address when he has won he item, Im new to ebay so dont really know how its all done??
(by the way Im a single woman so dont want to give my address out!)

I wanted a hamstercage for my daughter and the postage was going to be 10. I discovered that he was in Derby, down the road from us and so sent him a message asking if I could collect (this gave us the 10 postage as 10 extra to bid with!). He said yes, so I then bid and won. He then e-mailed me his mobile no and I rang him and arranged to collect the cage and paid cash. It was all OK, but then again I was on the other end of the deal and no-one was coming to my home. I'm sure you'll be fine, but make sure that you're not on your own when he collects the goods. He's probably enquiring so he dosen't bid if he can't collect.
I;m just selling stuff on Ebay at the moment
I do offer COD - but only ever accept COD in cllection goods as it covers you both as a buyer and the seller
Do not accept paypal
Don't give him your address until he wins and make sure your hubby is home when he calls to collect
If in doubt go to the community based message boards on Ebay - they are a huge help
Don't forget that as soon as someone places a bid they can get your registered details from eBay - your name, full address and telephone number.

The seller will receive the same information about the buyer if the buyer does request it.

The buyer doesn't need to know you live alone.
That`s not true is it Ethel?I thought you only see what area they are from

People don`t get any of your details until you have sent them an invoice
Im always selling on ebay and to be honest loads of cheapskates want to pick things up to save on postage...I think its quite normal him asking in advance because if you sad he cant pick up he might choose not to bid, plus your Postcode is not your full address it just allows him to decide how far it is and wether its cost affective to travel instaed of getting postage...I would happily say yes and provide my postcode, if he then goes on to ask for full address befor winning the item i would stay well away if you catch me drift.....x
Elvis68 - you put a bid on an item and you can 'find contact information' through advanced search. You must have at least bid on the seller's item or won the item.

eBay then send you an email with the registered details, and send your details to the other party.
