This has probably been asked a million times before ?? Anyway... I have just started selling on Ebay... I am not a business but am selling stuff I already have... Do I have to pay tax? Thanks in advance.

If you are obviously a private seller just disposing of a few items, then no. But apparently the Inland Revenue keep an eye on eBay, and sellers who run up large number of sales might be investigated.

If you sell stuff you already have or unwanted presents you don't have to pay tax

If you buy to sell or make something to sell you do have to pay tax.

Isnt there a limit - capital gains tax - 8500?

Not sure what the limit is but HM Revenue rule that if you buy to sell or make something and sell it on then you have to pay tax. Thats what I read in the papers anyway so who knows.
