over the last 2>>3 months on AB posts regarding the Jungle & the people trying to force their way into Trucks mainly to get into the UK, with comments from many members on here including myself, do you honestly think we are racist or is this a serious problem? my concern are the NHS, Housing that we don't have, people with no papers, where they are from & what backgrounds do they have, we have enough villains within the UK as it is. what are your views?

Baths....do you expect and answer to every post you make?
Talbot. I said "I am not aware of anyone one here who has condoned such action, Talbot, so I am not sure what point you are trying to make "

So you said "Utter drivel"

If it is drivel then it is honest drivel and I would be interested to see you give a link to some examples. Have I, perhaps, condoned " throw[ing] metal bars/bricks at passing vehicles thus risking lives ".

It would be very wearing were that so, as you would always be back returning the favour. 1,000,000+ post threads, here we come.
ummm, please don't try to start anything with me, I'm not in the mood.
Baths are you unwell today ?
and to be clear, I wasn't expecting "and answer", I hadn't asked a question.
anne, I'm pretty much unwell every day, thanks for asking.
I can imagine......baths. , ( a wee hug ) .
Thank you Anne, much appreciated :)

ff,
///receiving no critism///
is not the same as condoning, you're reading things into posts that just aren't there
I'll come back tonight Talbot to see whether you have:
(a)been able to convince me that there are people on here who have condoned throwing bricks/iron bars at lorry drivers (because I must have missed those posts) or
(b)whether you have withdrawn your "utter drivel "comment and admitted you made the point up (or simply inferred that some secretly think it)
(c) or whether you have conveniently forgotten to follow it up.

People making things up about what people have said is one reason why so many debates on here go pear shaped and why people lose interest in news threads

er ... haven't you just made some stuff up?
I will refer you to Baldric's succinct post @ 11:46

I believe some ABers go out of their way not to criticise certain groups of people ... even when those groups of people deserve to be criticised.

If you can see that you are very selective in your browsing.
I think it's much ado about nothing. According to my dad in the 60's-80's when mass migration was encouraged similar views were held. "They're here, taking our jobs, homes our women" that kind of rubbish but then the migrants stood shoulder to shoulder with the natives and built this beautiful country.

There is some thinly veiled held back racism and I'd love to be a fly on the wall in a pub with certain people where there weren't moderators, rules or regulations where they could outwardly explode their real feelings.

You'll always have racism, but it appears to be phasing itself out as those who hold such views find people stop listening to them once they've been amongst migrants and found that they're just normal people bar the criminal and economic migrants.
Ah- if you mean someone has not joining in criticism of those throwing bottles on a thread they may not even have seen or chosen to get involved in then we are probably all 'guilty' of that.

What you said was "an illegal immigrant can throw metal bars/bricks at passing vehicles thus risking lives and recieve no critism". I cannot recall any threads where they received no criticsm, but maybe I missed those threada. If there were such threads containing no criticism then you by definition must also be one of those who hadn't criticised.

Did you notice my response at 8:20?

/// people stop listening to them once they've been amongst migrants and found that they're just normal people bar the criminal and economic migrants. ///

Racism is not confined to the indigenous population of this country, and it is not racist for the indigenous population to comment on how their country is no longer the country that they once knew.
TWR - your OP refers to the question of whether we are racist, or is this a serious problem.

The two are actually not connected, so I cannot give an 'either / or' answer.

Speaking personally,. and I have commented on almost all the threads to which you refer -

Is mass illegal immigration a serious problem? Yes it certainly is.

Does seeing it as such, and referring to it as such make someone a racist? No, it certainly does not.

I am not against mass immigration because of the ethnicity of the migrants - which would make me a racist - I am against it because of the sheer number of practical, legal, social and logistical problems it creates.

I would feel exactly the same if every single UK born-and-bred ex-pat decided to return here - it's about numbers, not skin colour.
The word racist is banded about all to often in our society today.
Sammy - It is, no argument there.

Is that what you meant, Talbot? If I can see what? Doesn't make sense to me, sorry.

And if you are now saying that remaining silent about about people throwing iron bars and bottles at lorry drivers is not the same as condoning the violence then your point at 10:06 seems meaningless.

I'm only focusing on what you posted as you said my response was drivel
We all share concerns about what is happening around us and what is reported in the News, some are able to answer without getting overheated and others use quite excitable language in discussion.

I doubt as many people are racist in reality as it may appear sometimes, it's simply the way they frame their words.
