That's about £550. Comon sense would tell you not to carry that much on you in cash.

Your ATM cards will work over there. Take a couple of hundred quid with you then draw £100 at a time from the cash machines to top up as you go (your bank will charge you about £2) . Prices are cheap in Egypt so your money will go a long way.

You'd have trouble spending that much there without being ripped off - incredibly cheap beyond the tourist hotels. Also, all the large hotels have bank branches in them and they love to change euros, sterling and dollars, so bring them. Don't use traveller's cheques though - very hard to find anywhere that will accept them
