Ive been listening to the Chris Evans breakfast show this morning on radoo 2.He said its in all the papers today that the worlds chocolate will run out in 6 years time. Would you miss chocolate if we couldnt buy it anymore? Do you eat a lot of chocolate yourself? Ive never been much of a fan of it myself, id rather have some nice fruit, but i know a lot of people really love it.

Is it April the 1st already ?
^Hope not. There'll only be 3 days left to buy an Easter-Egg and the shops are running out.
i'm sure that was said about bananas (devil's food) and that they would all be gone sometime in 2014. not long to go.

Ah. Well that'll be temporary and affect prices more than availability. Supply & demand and all that nonsense.
whenever i hear chocolate mentioned i dream of doing a dawn french into a choc fountain ,not allowed to eat it though sob !!!
Rarely eat chocolate.
To answer the question, partly miss it. I don't eat much of it, if I am honest. If I buy a bar there's a good chance it'll start going white before I get around to opening it, but I enjoy it when I do have some. Have a vending chocolate at work more. Maybe two of those a week as a substitute for another vending coffee. (Fruit if fine but isn't a substitute. I eat fruit but again not much. I'll be good and buy a pack of four apples expecting to eat them over the next week, and by the time I've got to the forth it's rather dry and unappetising.)
I doubt that chocolate will 'run-out', however there could be less supply available to meet demand.

Substitute chocolate can be made using Vegetable Oil instead of Cocoa Butter and can taste the same.

Hans.
As you all know (cause I have bored you with it often enough) I have given up chocolate and alcohol for November - cause I missed Stoptober
Its a joyless life without both those - I have treated myself to a Thorntons Continental Advent Calendar to compensate
i'd certainly miss it but i cant see it running out completely, less availability/high demand will mean prices will rise but.......

Noooo! That is so not chocolate! I'd never eat that...blehh.:-(

Yes..I'd miss chocolate. But only very dark,or 100%. It actually quite high in some minerals including magnesium.
Surely they can grow it somewhere else? the world is a big place
Quite a bit is grown in south America, where it originated.
According to wiki, the Ivory Coast is the largest producer followed by Indonesia... no Ebola there I don't think. Maybe other countries will see this as chance to increase production.
the worst that will happen is it will become more expensive and the cheaper stuff will become even more sugary/fructosy and processed
No different to other little luxuries that I use to enjoy but are no longer on the menu. What you don't have, you don't (eventually) miss......
oh yes you do lol
My favourite chocolates are Fortnum and Mason Champagne truffles. They are VERY expensive ... so, if chocolate were to run out in 6 years time, my bank balance might be better , not to mention my teeth and waistline!
I can't remember the last time I ate chocolate. So I could live without it.
