Respect? What a joke!

What a load of hypocrites are pro footballers. We had examples in the John Terry case about the the things they say to each other on the pitch. The insulting things, that is. About wives, girlfriends etc. And they take to the field wearing a badge that says "Respect". Not from me, people. Overpaid, insulting, pompous, hypocrites. All of 'em!

Unfortunately many of the fans who watch football are no better.

I know someone with a "spare" season ticket for Fulham, and I go to the occasional game.

Now Fulham fans are generally thought of as being amongst the "better behaved" supporters, but last year they were playing Liverpool and Luis Suarez decided to "fall over" a few times far too easily.

The fans at one end started shouting in unison "Suarez is a c**t" over and over again.

Eventually Suarez gave them "the finger" and it was caught on TV and he was banned for a match.

But nothing was said or done about the Fulham fans and they will assume they can go on abusing players like this.

I feel that the stadium announcer should have asked them to stop, and if they refused (or did similar chants at other matches) they should be deducted points.

I am sure this goes on at other grounds as well, so not having a go at Fulham here, but with football trying to attract more women and families this sort of thing should be stamped out.
...I agree with the Fulham fans!
Sledging was I think started by cricketers as a bit of a joke but now they say things to a batsman like 'You're a fat bastard' and he replies 'I know, it's because every time I shag your wife, she gives me a biscuit' etc etc. It's pathetic but it only seems to happen in team sports. Time it was stamped out, especially as there are so many powerful microphones about. It's the worst possible example to youngsters taking up spoer.
Should've said sport of course.
I believe the biscuit one was originally Botham in response to an Aussie bowler, and I thought it was quite funny the first time I heard it. It's a humerous response to an insult, and light years away from the ignorance of Terry (allegedly) calling someone a f*cking black c*nt.
