Every living organism, we are told, has been created by God .

Are they all of equal value ?

Do they all qualify to go to heaven ?

Further to that it is possible to have a feeling for something without anything positive to go on, like walking into a room and detecting an atmosphere .
I believe faith may be like that ; illogical, impossible , no provable evidence . Just a feeling. a thought, wishful thinking or idea....
I think beckersjay answer shows an open mind but then I talk to my tomato plants.
#I do believe that all sentient creatures have an afterlife. Not sure about plants...#
//John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave is one and only son, that
WHOEVER believes in him shall NOT perish but have eternal life.//

I am quite sure that murderers who want to cleans the world of infidels in the name of their God believe that they believe in their creator, so they go to heaven while the good-hearted charity worker in the Op shop goes to hell.
In the words of Mr.Spock.... that is illogical.
There is no clear boundary between animals and plants, so if every living creation ends up in heaven, we must already be living there.
No, sandy has the right idea... humans are the only lifeform which worships imaginary deities so are the only ones to have a soul.
'I like a party with an atmosphere!' - Russ Abbott. One of the great Abbotts of the Black Abbott re-invasion of Blackpool's Central Pier !
The line has to be drawn somewhere. Imagine our cousins, the Great Apes, had souls. Then why not baboons, dolphins, and the like. Where would it all end? How could a believer be anything but a vegan?
Shame about Jesus and the fishes then.
Just reinforces my original point. If the fish had had souls it would have been nut cutlets or veggie burgers for the 5000 at the picnic.
For God was so twisted that he had His one and only son tortured to death and claimed that whoever does not believe in Him shall suffer eternal torture.
//that is illogical. //

Not only illogical - but wicked. How any right thinking human being can believe it’s acceptable for a good man to go to hell simply for utilising his innate rationality – and moreover accept that an innocent man was brutally executed, by design, by a supposedly compassionate God on their behalf - is beyond me. And these people pride themselves on being good Christians? Actually, it absolutely sickens me – but then. I’m just one of those damned ungodly atheists who happens to care about her fellow man!
You do yourself a great injustice. You are clearly one of the Goodly Godless. God will have a place reserved for you too.
I think you miss my point. As Jesus caught and ate the fish he couldn't have been a believer by your reckoning.
I can't work out if Sandy is deeply Christian, or taking the pee.
Come on Hopkirk you're deceased. You tell us what's on the other side. And don't say 'the football'.
If he's deeply Christian, he makes a very poor job of following Christ's path.
Sandyroe, he can keep it. I prefer to choose my company - and his apparent choice is not mine.
He's taking the pee.
In my view heaven is a place invented by people who have a need to believe in a hereafter. I am a living organism and will shortly turn up my toes and kick the bucket. I do not expect to go anywhere other than rot in the ground.
The Goodly Godless will probably take no comfort from this.

Abou Ben Adhem

Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)
Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,
And saw, within the moonlight in his room,
Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom,
An angel writing in a book of gold:—
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,
And to the Presence in the room he said
"What writest thou?"—The vision raised its head,
And with a look made of all sweet accord,
Answered "The names of those who love the Lord."
"And is mine one?" said Abou. "Nay, not so,"
Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low,
But cheerly still, and said "I pray thee, then,
Write me as one that loves his fellow men."

The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night
It came again with a great wakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blessed,
And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.
^^^^^^ so?
And where did John get his information from? a reliable source I hope..
