Just heard that Ruth Davidson had given birth to a boy. The Scottish Conservative leader tweeted on Friday afternoon that she and her partner Jen Wilson named the child Finn Paul Davidson. He weighed 10lb 1.5oz. Not quite sure how I feel about this but wish wee Finn a long and happy life.

The safe delivery of any baby is an event to be celebrated.

Congratulations to the new family.

Should you feel any particular way about a woman giving birth ?
Wonderful news as long as a child has loving parents I don’t see a problem
Who's the daddy?
One is a parent and one is not.
That's a heck of a weight!
Congratulations and welcome to the World Finn.

I find that quite sad, the poor child will never know.
Ahh......and they are queuing up already.

Please, don't let a happy event get in the way of your regular churlishness....
As thousands of others don’t know what is the real issue here?
"...but wish wee Finn a long and happy life."

So do I.

"i would imagine the other lady will adopt, ad then she will officially be the parent"

Yes, but not the biological parent and not a male. However unpalatable my views are I believe boys need a father in their lives.
^^The real issue is that some still don't like the idea of gay parents...a good few on here, of course.
Quite so NJ. I despair at the way the world is heading, whatever next.
Quite a few on here don't like the idea of gay people.....full stop.
And they use every opportunity to proclaim the fact.

Being a parent is not about biology - if you were a step-parent, then you'd understand that.

I've no problems with children having gay parents - so long as one of them is a man and one a woman. I've no particular concern over the needs and whims of the parents. It's the child's wellbeing I have greater concern over.

That's true, sadly.

The moral high ground will be extra-crowded when this tread has run its course.

I am a step parent, I just believe that children should be raised/reared with a male/female influence.
