Torygraph is reporting that the Scots conservatives are looking to become a separate organisation, albeit following the Tory whip.

Particularly interesting are the claims that there is "clamour among senior Tories in London for Ms Davidson to be given a top position in the UK party" and that as she is ardently pro-Remain, she could use her position to influence the EU negotiations:

//Ms Davidson has repeatedly said that she favours Britain reaching an agreement that allows it to stay in both the single market and customs union. As a result it is expected that she will now seek to bring about a dramatic change in the government’s negotiating position which hitherto has been opposed to both the single market and the customs union.//

Is this plausible? Furthermore, what's the point of separating if they are going to follow the Tory whip anyway?

central paradox is
1. scots tories to break away
2. there is a clamour to give the gal a top UK job

the two are inconsistent and so no wonder the analysis makes no sense at all

altho in terms of pulling bunnies from hats - she gets the prize rather than corbo
I can't see the Scottish conservatives having much in common with the DUP!
On many matters they are totally opposed to the DUP policies , making abortion illegal for example.
An ardent remainer in a top job having particular influence in Brexit, sounds a non-starter to me. You don't need folk who potentially aren't going to be a team member but who would act as a spoiler, messing up progress.

As for breaking away, I can't see that being easy to achieve. Could be interesting to see if anything occurs.
As for the DUP, parties need not be identical, one just avoids issues one disagrees with for the duration of the 'understanding'. No abortion legislation scheduled over the next six months, is there ?
