Can't believe that fear, greed, and a xenophobia, that has NO place in the 21st century, has triumphed. I'm sorry England, but you need to hang your collective heads in utter shame. Roll on the next Scottish referendum.

Because of Nicola Sturgeon's antics, some Scottish people were not actually answering the question on the ballot paper.

Instead they were voting the way that they thought would give them a second referendum.
Exactly Hopkirk.
Hoppy...we can't possibly know that. But the reality is that a large amount of Scottish people voted to STAY, and with a much bigger majority than the LEAVE camp got in the rest of the UK, and that can't be ignored.
Yes it can.
I rather think the shame should be yours magiebee, do you remember the title UNITED Kingdom ? You wanted to part from England but remain joined to a corrupt Europe run by a bunch of non elected Eurocrats who want ALL their own way.
I think they would have to leave with us and then go back in as an independent country.. Could take 10 years
//Sorry, but get a life.// YMB

because the rest of us wont have one ....

shame indeed
There'll be no EU for Scotland to join and we know they can't stand on their own feet.
Maggie...it wasn't just England who voted to leave...Wales did too.

As for a second Scottish referendum...I'd welcome that too :)
Hear hear NoM- as far as I'm concerned Scotland can have their independence ASAP.
^Ditto.
Ditto.
Snap !
If I was a Scots remainer (rather than an English one) I would possibly feel a bit aggrieved. However, it's worth pointing out:

* 1 in 3 Scots (over 1.3 million) didn't bother voting at all. Scotland had a 67.2% turnout in this referendum vs 84.6% turnout in the Scottish Referendum
* Over 1 million of the Scots that did vote, voted to leave

So Scotland decided the result of this election as much as England did. Scotland actually had the chance to make the UK as a whole go against the majority vote in England, and they failed.
ditto and snap
I don't think the UK can afford to tear itself apart at the same time as it's working to leave the EU.
Perhaps not, Jim, but we have seized back our independence overnight and if Scotland wish to go it alone, I for one wish them all the best :-)
Ellipsis....millions of people, all over Britain didn't vote, and never do, in anything. But its the 2 thirds of people that do bother to vote that decide everything.

When people can't be bothered to go out and vote, they exclude themselves from the debate altogether.
Mikey - Some people just didn't know which way to vote. It's not about them not bothering.
Thanks for that Mikey, I didn't realise.
