Absolutely disgusting, is this no longer England, are our armed forces something to be ashamed of so as to be hidden behind walls?

/// Former Chief of the Air Staff Sir Michael Graydon described the incident as ‘disappointing’. ///

I would use stronger language than that sir, but it would not get by the AnswerBank censor.

I wonder if this over sensitive staff would have told a Muslim woman wearing a full burka the same thing?

"400,000 Muslims wore the British Military Uniform and fought and died alongside British soldiers in the second world war. " Yes I’m sure you’re right, Retrochic. However, that was then and this is now. It would be very interesting to see how many Muslims currently resident in the UK would answer the call to arms if it were necessary. “Anyway -why on...

As I have already pointed out, the Muslim woman wearing a burka, was just a topical comparison.

But as usual mention any of the ethnic minorities in a negative way, and the apologists come out ito play.
// Not necessarily a RAF uniform, one has been murdered for wearing a help for heroes T-Shirt.//

well a story from Brum a few years ago
In the trauma unit which takes the severely injured servicemen
someone said to a patient

You are killing my brothers in Afghanistan

and the Tommy said - give me a gun and I will kill a few more.....

as for the IRA bombers ( or non bombers as we now know ) we used to chain them to radiators and no one else kicked them to death .....
If the topical comparison had formed part of the story then your premise would hold , but it appears nowhere and is pure conjecture, but it is your thread to orchestrate as you see it.

That if I may say so is the most ridiculous thing I have read in a long time.

Not all comparisons have to actually be part of the story.

"Breast feeding Mum told to go being partition so as not to offend others".

Now I wonder what comparisons would be banded about over this?

"Fancy telling ...................

I will leave it to others to make up their own comparisons.
That's telling you Mamy ! Its our fault for disagreeing with him !

Stop trying to butter up people for support mikey, although you could certainly do with some, seeing that not many ever agree with you.
And I'm one of them aog !
I don't mind being put in my place - or where someone thinks my place is,I may not stay there though.

I just find it irritating that threads lose their topic so often and constantly fall back on a hobby horse, but as I say the piper calls the tune.

Enjoy.
^ Which is a misquote, I know.

As they always seem to do when I happen to mention Muslims, even if only in a comparison way.

Interesting though that nobody took me up on my 'level playing field' stance in today's University thread.

If it wasnt for the RAF in WW2 there would not be an NHS
'You should not be treated differently for wearing a uniform – you should be lorded because you’re wearing uniform.'

That should be 'lauded', not 'lorded'. Sloppy journalism.

Ah, Tilly, It must be right 'cause you read it in the Daily Mail!
When I read this story I was appalled, on no occasion should he have been told to move. This is England and he was a proud RAF member, especially one who had been injured. The person who asked him to move should be ashamed of themselves. Anyone who is offended by a man in an RAF uniform, should not be in this country. (Rant over.)
There are other ways of looking at this too......

1) NHS employee who has witnessed an unpleasant incident in the past asks the RAF Sergeant if he would move, giving that reason. In the hope a similar thing didn't happen to the already injured man.

2) NHS employee who has witnessed an unpleasant incident in the past does nothing, crosses fingers and hopes if anything unpleasant happens they can get security there quickly before further injury happens.

Should our NHS staff have to think like this? - No,but they do and when making a judgement call it isn't easy is it?

Divebuddy took the words from my mouth, the exit's clearly signposted for the easily offended.
I didn't read of anyone offended - it was a pre-emptive move by an employee who had witnessed an incident in the past.
Talk about putting a slant on a story. Busy A&E waiting room, man with injured eyes in RAF uniform.
Because there had been a nasty incident aimed at a uniformed man in the recent past a member of staff SUGGESTED that he might want to wait somewhere quieter and gave the reason. The uniformed man GLADLY accepted and has made no complaint.

Hospital has apologised and said it is not hospital policy.

A total non-story
