Absolutely disgusting, is this no longer England, are our armed forces something to be ashamed of so as to be hidden behind walls?

/// Former Chief of the Air Staff Sir Michael Graydon described the incident as ‘disappointing’. ///

I would use stronger language than that sir, but it would not get by the AnswerBank censor.

I wonder if this over sensitive staff would have told a Muslim woman wearing a full burka the same thing?

"400,000 Muslims wore the British Military Uniform and fought and died alongside British soldiers in the second world war. " Yes I’m sure you’re right, Retrochic. However, that was then and this is now. It would be very interesting to see how many Muslims currently resident in the UK would answer the call to arms if it were necessary. “Anyway -why on...

how awful we are proud of our forces ,hope they ask people in hijabs etc to sit behind walls to .
Disgraceful. On this occasion your query "I wonder if this over sensitive staff would have told a Muslim woman wearing a full burka the same thing?" is very valid. of course they wouldn't dare.
Appalling, totally appaling and completely unacceptable. It is a function of a hospital to provide medical care and not to moralise on the aspects of the patients to be treated.

In the US, members of the Armed forces are applauded wherever they go, but in the UK they are taken for granted.

The hospital director should be interviewed and a national apology made.

A Muslim? don't you dare criticize a Muslim or Islam.
Utterly ridiculous way to treat anyone and excuses given sound very lame to me.
Disgusting However - this is the hospitals fault not Muslims fault as a complaint was never made. While they are at it they should make obese women wearing leggings and skin tight tops stand behind screens in waiting rooms and the such -they cause much more upset.
Mad, absolutely mad ! I would kick up a stink if this had been a member of my family.
I think this is awful but it appears to be the action of a single individual and the Hospital concerned has apologised. Not sure if this has anything to do with Muslims, but nice try AOG !
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' " Tommy, wait outside ";
But it's " Special train for Atkins " when the trooper's on the tide
The troopship's on the tide, my boys, the troopship's on the tide,
O it's " Special train for Atkins " when the trooper's on the tide.
Sandy...thanks for the Kipling...is a while since I read that.
It's because people in authority have become accustomed to tippy-toeing around Muslims for fear of invoking a violent reaction. So, it has everything to do with the perpetually offended ones.

It was used in a comparative way, but of course we can't mention Muslims in a negative way, now can we?

Absolutely disgusting behavior on the part of the Hospital/Staff Member concerned, and of course it concerns Muslims, the local area has quite a high Muslim population, also quite a few Hospital Staff are Muslims.
it was done not to (allegedly) offend people of different cultures -this could include western Europeans. Religion and or Muslims were not even mentioned in the article.
Anyway -why on earth would a Muslim be offended by an RAF uniform?

I would like to see National Service brought back, then we would soon see how many of our Muslims, would be prepared to wear the uniform of their country's Armed Forces.
AOG...you bring up Muslims at every opportunity, even when there is no connection whatsoever with the topic under discussion !

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34368332

"A spokesman for East Kent University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: "A member of the armed forces in uniform attended our A&E and was asked by a member of staff if he wanted to sit inside the department rather than the waiting room"

"This employee was acting in good faith because previously, there had been an altercation between a member of the public and a different member of the armed forces in uniform."

The spokesman also said the hospital trust was "absolutely clear that members of Her Majesty's armed forces, whether in uniform or not, should not be treated any differently to any other person".

"We are now making this point clear to all our members of staff and will seek to make sure that this never happens again," he added.

No mention of Muslims at all and the Hospital has made a very full apology.
400,000 Muslims wore the British Military Uniform and fought and died alongside British soldiers in the second world war.
So one employee's actions based on a previous incident, let's hope policy is now made clearer to all employees to save further misunderstandings.
You should not be treated differently for wearing a uniform – you should be lorded because you’re wearing uniform

while i totally agree with the second half of the above, can't the person saying it see the irony?

Retrochic

Are they not the ones (also some on their behalf), who are forever complaining of being offended?

/// Anyway -why on earth would a Muslim be offended by an RAF uniform? ///

Not necessarily a RAF uniform, one has been murdered for wearing a help for heroes T-Shirt.
