/// His comments echoed those made by a Muslim women’s human rights group which said it was advising parents to 'keep your daughter’s passport under lock and key'. ///

"MUSLIM WOMEN’S HUMAN RIGHTS GROUP" Surely that has got to be the most prime example of a 'contradictory of terms' ever?

I hope your taking notice of Gromit's grammer lesson, sp?
We've had ups and updogs this weekend. I still don't understand either.
Standerds or droping on AB when I has two give grammer lessens.
You seem incapable of following a thread, Gromit.

That's the trouble when you start taking the P, you've got to be very careful yourself.

Talbot, I have read again, my post at 17:32 was in support of your post about Sp's misuse of your/you're.
Your post about my 'grammer' was also taken in jest, which is why I replied in my usual mis-spelt nonsense.

I realise banter doesn't always work in the written word, and this is a prime example.
No problem, you convince yourself of that if you want, Gromit.
"Scotland Yard said on Friday that it had interviewed the three missing girls in December after one of their 15-year-old schoolfriends boarded a flight to Turkey in a bid to join Islamic State militants. The four were all students at the Bethnal Green Academy school in east London."

Another possible trigger for them to speak to their Faecbook contact and their consequent course of action?

Article goes on to say that the questioning was routine and they were not put under surveillance - ie no-one thought they were a risk, at that stage.

Pedantry:
multiple daughters, one passport each, so the imperative would be to "lock up your daughters' passport" (???)

Multiple passports, overall, so that looks wrong.

Sorry, that should say Faecesbook.

Not a fan then? ;)

How did the parents not spot that?
@Scorpi

I am a former user in recovery, jo. In real life I can only keep up to date wih the activities of three or four friends and, by moving home too many times, I lost most of those.

@Talbot

"How did the parents not spot that?"

How should they be able to monitor their child's FB account? Surely that would be an invasion of their privacy?

If they'd tried, literally, to look over their shoulder while they're online, that would immediately alter what the child browses, no?

It's been a while since I checked but, last I recall, it is possible to 'Follow' on FB without 'friending' someone. So a preacher figure can have their audience without formally linking themselves to people in a way that would cause them to be swamped with incoming messages.

I can't remember how to display my own follows page, let alone that of a FB friend.

Other peoples Tweets jusy pop up on their feed.

I don't allow my kids to put a password on anything, they should not have anything to hide.
Twitter not Facebook, Hypo.
Hyp,

Apologies if I said something wrong
I don't understand Twitter so how am I suppose to monitor my children.

Up until recently my children only had access to the internet in my living room but now they have iphones. How can you monitor that?

You can use fake names on FB and Twitter...again, how is that monitored?
Well I can and do monitor my kids, it really is not that difficult, ummmm.

A Twitter tweet will pop up un the screen

There is no hiding the content, you do not need to understand it.

I can't understand how these Mods get chosen, they apparently are there to make us mortals tow the line where appropriate, yet they themselves seem it is quite in order for them to turn a thread aggressive.

Gromt's pedantry and BOO's sarcastic ups remark were uncalled for, Mods should know better.
