/// His comments echoed those made by a Muslim women’s human rights group which said it was advising parents to 'keep your daughter’s passport under lock and key'. ///

"MUSLIM WOMEN’S HUMAN RIGHTS GROUP" Surely that has got to be the most prime example of a 'contradictory of terms' ever?

Perhaps UPS delivered the Passports ??
Question Title.

I assume the 'Ups' in the middle is a mistake. As is the misplaced apostrophe in daughter's passports. Unless each daughter has muliple passports.

The cry of 'lock up your daughters' is usually used as a warning to parents to keep them away from men.
oh, i wasn't meaning to be rude (or an English pedant) I just couldn't understand what it meant, and didn't even consider a typo!
apparently svejk knows though ;)
I sure do.
I wasn't svejk, and dont be so rude!

Unknown Destination Schoolgirls ??
If these girls want to get away and they are in touch with contacts in the right area, they can get fake passports. I know a Ghanaian lady who overstayed her visa (by several years) during which time her passport expired. She travelled back to Ghana on a fake one. It`s not difficult.
You were, if I embarrassed you by pointing it out, it doesn't make me rude.
As i don't want to take AOG's thread on a tit for tat wrangle over a daft misunderstanding that you seem to want to argue about, i'll just ignore your cheap jibe at me svejk.

Enjoy your evening :-)

Hey girls, join Isis and get a free fridge and cooker, free rent to !.

...."British counter-terrorism officers have been accused of failing to take basic steps to prevent young women from joining Islamic State after three London schoolgirls evaded authorities to travel to Syria".....

Lots of lasses book cheapo hols to Turkey, not all go to Syria. Parents at fault for not keeping tabs on kids.

If you have to lock up your kids' passports to stop them going abroad and joining ISIS (or ISIL or whatever acronym they have this week), then you've pretty much failed as a parent.

I saw the family on the news earlier this evening and I felt the same level of sympathy that I do when I see the family of any idiot kid appealing for their safe return...lots of sympathy for the family and anger at the kids who put their loved ones through that misery.

Let's be honest - some teenagers are just bloody rubbish human beings.

Fortunately, most get through that rubbish phase and grow up≥

Some don't.
Gromit

AOG uses 'ups' for 'oops'.

I've seen other people do it and it's confusing at first, but once you know...

However, your right about the apostrophe in daughter's. It should be written daughters'.
Does that apply to the parents of all runaways or just those who flee to ISIS et al?

If so I am one of millions of failed parents.
Ups. You are probably right sp.

I vaguely remember seeing it on here before.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Your right but yet your wrong, sp
// Your right but yet your wrong, sp //

You are, or you're. Not 'your'.
lol....eh?
probably just those of us whose children go forth dreaming of cutting off heads, Mamya.
Righto.
