Does UKIP specifically appeal to those with racial prejudices?

Is this something that Farage needs to worry about?

Cards on the table, when I think about it, I reckon I have a few social*, rather than racial prejudices myself, and I bet that the majority of AB News contributors are the same.

(*A social prejudice is one based on a number of factors, such as educational background, job, attitudes to crime and whether the person reads the Daily Mail etc. I believe that social prejudices are just as bad as racial prejudices - but I acknowledge them and consciously avoid acting on them).

As the only decent party interested in recovering our own national control it is inevitably the nearest any racist can get to what they want, even if it is a million miles from what they really want, so of course the party picks up some support from that group. The party only really need be concerned about bad publicity resulting from this inevitability. Unless they opt to hand the reins over to the extremists that is. Which seems unlikely since it'd be the end of that party as a valid party.
no it isn't, divebuddy. The wife-beating question is a trap where both answers are wrong. This one could be answered yes or no without implicating the respondent either way.

No worries divebuddy.

You like some people; you don't like some others. Had a wonderful evening out yesterday, variations of ages, nationalities, colours etc.. Everyone mixed happily.

It is not race that is the problem; it is culture.

Again divebuddy, it's really no problem whatsoever.

I understand completely - I was going to post another question about the sacked UKIP councillor who has 'a problem with people with *** features', but at the end of the day, you're right - we can't have both me and AOG posting questions about race, otherwise the Editor will have to change the News section title to the Rant section.
Farage does need to worry about it.

Anyway, as 10'clock tonight there's a programme on TV which focuses on a small bunch of derided nohopers as they attempt to convince a sceptical public that they can be top dogs in the UK.

But rather than watching England take on Scotland in the cricket I might watch "Meet the Ukippers" instead which is on at the same time. And then be better placed perhaps to answer, who knows

Some would say that by and large race and culture are linked.

Although it's true that with exposure to other cultures, people from different races can change their outlook and behaviours.

But specifically I'm interested in finding out why UKIP voters are so racially prejudiced when compared to Tories, LibDems and Labour.

For instance - why are LibDems so much less racially prejudiced than the other parties???

Oh damn...is it on tonight?

Will have to watch it on catch up tomorrow a I will be travelling to an Oscars party at that time.
Being concerned about the current level of immigration is not racist. Being concerned about the quality of some of those immigrants is also not racist. I actually think that a lot of those who have admiited to some degree of racism are not actually racist. To decide to vote for UKIP, the voter will almost conceed they will be labelled racist, so this is just them saying they are not too bothered about that.
I agree with Gromit
Would none Ukip voters who
a ) have no intention of integrating.
b) see everyone who is a different religion to them as infidels.
be classed has racists.
My God man you certainly have a big racist chip on your shoulder.Give up man you are fighting a losing battle. This is Great Britain.Have you not noticed that a day does not go by on this site when the subject of others who are not indigenous to this white predominately Christian country crops up.
We have so many troubles discussed on this site about
Islamists,Black muggers,Nigerian flim flam scams. Perhaps those who are holier than thou would acknowledge that a lot of the evil currently in this country and others is caused by those of another race which is not native to this country.
Yes. We had our own home grown villains (The Krays, Richardsons etc) but no Blacks complained when they were brought to law. Seems that when crimes are committed by blacks we have to now put a lid on it and diffuse the situation. No wonder there is some resentment and prejudice

and being concerned, to put it mildy that your country is losing its identity isnt racist either
bazwillrun is right. I care for my culture.

What the hell is it with Racism over the last few days, you can't avoid it on here?
Sp, if I remember rightly, it wasn't so long ago you were decrying the Golliwog, you're now sporting a Neo-golliwog as an Avatar and still giving it "Infamy, Infamy" in one form or another. Perhaps if you came over as less of a victim than you presently do you might find there is less prejudice out there than you imagine. We reap what we sow!

Ah...but hang on - you've conflated 'racist' with 'racially prejudiced'.

The two are completely different, and being racially prejudiced is not necessarily a bad thing. It can be constraining and lead you to make invalid assumptions about people, but it's nothing like racism.

Racial prejudice:

A new bloke who's family are from South East Asia starts working in your office and you automatically assume that he's into martial arts films.

Racist:

A new girl starts working in your office, who's family are from the West Indies and you refuse to let her bank the office lottery collection because "black people are thieves".

I see the difference between racial prejudice and racism as former being one that we are socially conditioned into, and the latter being the one that you act upon, based on the former.

You can be a perfectly nice human being with racial prejudices, but in my opinion, it's impossible to be a nice racist.
