I've read jonathon strange a couple of times now and i love it . The style does take a while to get into but I found it very vivid and intriguing. Maybe slightly ' denser' - if that makes sense - than the others you mention but if you like the ideas of magic, other worlds and such then chances are you will like it.
I do have to say though that my husband, although he enjoyed what he did read of Jonathon Strange had to give up. He's a lightweight though that can only read about 3 pages of anything before falling asleep, lol.

great, im really looking forward to it now, thanks ;o)
i got through it but it was a chore .... and it's one of only a very few books i own that i havn't read again. i also love his dark materials.
Another consideration for me is that i have RA in my hands and found it hard to pick up and hold
I read it, sort of enjoyed it, but don't think I would recommend it. Its very very long and really expects the reader to suspend disbelief an awful lot
