In my week of household disasters put a pan of onions and mince on last night and promptly forgot about it (got distracted gossiping as you do). It is thick black. Boiling hot water and washing up liquid has shifted some. Any other bright ideas?

(Ps am giving up household stuff ad a kindness to ABers)

Simmer with water and soda crystals?
Biological washing powder/liquid.

What type is it?

New pan.
I had to resort to buying cheap pans and just binning them if something like that happened. I have a very short attention span - and something bad happens to the pan.
I have a very bristly moulting hen who'd make a good alternative to a Brillo pad......

It's a stainless steel pan.

Will biological washing liquid do? I don't have any soda crystals. I used them all down the blocked toilet.

I'll try the salt thing too.

Lol Eccles - ypu really do have moody girls!

The iron and dishwasher both died. The landline has ceased to function. Internet is shaky. A loo got blocked. I burned a pan. The oven is in its death throes. And the shop ran out of pinot.
bin it and open the wine
oh ***, no pinot.
Biological on a simmer will likely do the trick.

Are you sure you don't want two moulting ladies to turn your garden into the aftermath of a pillow fight?????
Bio washing powder and water bring to boil and simmer an hour empty and scrub out. Repeat if necessary .The burnt on residue will come loose and can be removed/ scraped off.
I knew a guy at University who started out like this and, after boiling his pan dry twice more containing cleaner for the first time he boiled it dry, he went to pick it up and left the base stuck to the electric hob. One of the funniest things I've ever seen ...

lol Ellipsis. Well I am simmering bio liquid whilst on hold to the landline provider. I have a feeling this is going to be a LONG evening.
Was it a non-stick ?
Unless its a cast iron skillet, its probably ruined.
Maybe its time to invest in a ceramic pan.
