I don't use above as a method of paying - I just use my visa card and everything has been ok. However looking at my account online there I see an amount £28.24 has been taken by a funny looking name.

How do I contact paypal to find out what has happened. Thank you.

You need to log into your account, then go to the contact us page - if you click on the telephone symbol you will get the telephone number & I believe they give you a one-off code to use when your call is answered

Hi Jenny, log into your P.P. Account & first check if it shows on you payments, if any money has gone out without your knowledge report to P.P.

Most are assuming that you have a Paypal Account, but you haven't stated so. All you say is you use you Visa to make your payments, which is feasible as you don't need to be a Paypal a/c holder to use Paypal, just a card holder.
If the funny looking payment is on your Visa then contact them. Likewise if it's on Paypal.

You can buy off ebay using PayPal even if you don't have an PayPal account.

Jennyjoan states that she DOESN'T have a PayPal account.

I'd be contacting my Visa card customer services. There's a payment been taken from your account that you know nothing about. Ask them for full details and, if youo're not happy, tell them you want a full refund.
We did this some years ago when a small (about £5) payment had been taken notionally by an estate agent.(They don't deal in such trivial amounts). It took a little while but we got our money back.
Sometimes people who have got hold of your card details will try making a small purchase and, if you don't spot it, they'll make a bigger one later.
