When I was a kid I knew it as cuckoo or frog spit, it's a white frothy liquid under the leaves and my strawberries are covered in it. What is it and can it harm my strawb's ?. Thanks.

As far as I can remember the froth is a protective cover for the nymph of the froghopper insect. We get it on our lavender bushes, never heard of it attacking strawberries before.

Inside each little bundle of froth is a little green insect, called a froghopper. It will suck the sap of your plant. One or two will not do much harm but if you have a large infestation they need to be removed.

its made by the leafhopper bug to protect its young. Rinse it off with the hose.

I regard frog hoppers/cuckoo spit, as harmless to plants, although some folk may find them unsightly.
They are just as wondrous to me now, as they were to me when I was a wee nipper, leaning about nature
