cumberland sausages and creamy mash with veg
for dinner.
Yesterday I found some lamb steaks reduced in the supermarket so I chopped them up and put them in the stewpan with onions and roots and a couple of pints of stock and slow cooked them for a couple of hours, put some spuds in half an hour before tea time. It was delicious and much appreciated by son 1 when he came in after a 13hr day.
Sometimes the good old fashioned simple things are best.

I do agree, shoota.

However, as I am going on holiday in just over 7 weeks, I want to lay off the carbs.
If I don’t go do some shopping my self, I’ll be on beans on toast
I don`t know yet - might take some turkey chili out of the freezer. I`m going on holiday in 4 days but I`m still going to stuff my face with carbs (might take curry out for tomorrow night)
Smoked Basa fillets, very cheap to buy and very tasty, on average two fillets for £2.50, boiled tatters mashed with veg. A little homemade cheese sauce.

Doesn't most of that "basa" come from the Mekong Delta, which is riddled with industrial toxic waste?
I'm not sure yet...I need to have a rummage in the freezer...soon!
OR, I can have leftovers. I made ricotta dumplings last night, and I'm not sure if they can be frozen.
LadyCG @ 11:24...that's why I've never bought Basa.
Yes your right it did, but like salmon it's now farmed not caught from the Megong. most prawns that are sold are farmed I believe.
I've just had fried chicken livers and onion on toast with lots of salt and black pepper.
Beautiful!
^ Mekong. Basa is a very good source of trace minerals, zinc & potassium.
No idea yet - but likely to be pork and homemade apple sauce for dinner...
