A happy day to you Stephen, my OH is left-handed as well.
Waves, with left hand, from a fellow south paw!
Any left footers on here?:)
Thanks Steve, I'm another sinistral person.

I'm Left-footed in both senses, melv!
I'm sort of left handed, I do certain things with my left hand eg I write with my right hand, or with a pen for lovers of schooltime jokes!, but I use a knife in my left hand for peeling, slicing. Can I celebrate this day too?
I'm left-handed. Both of my parents were left-handed. All four of my grandparents were left-handed. All of my aunts and uncles (including, as far as I'm aware, even by marriage) are/were left-handed. Most (possibly all) of my cousins are left-handed.

I'm a left-footed footballer and a left-handed bowler yet, oddly, I'm a right-handed batsman!
I find this thread very sinister.
yes you can zebo - earting left handed is the strongest determinant apparently ( erm eating left handed and doing most other things RH )

There is even a Prof of Left handedness - McManus and he of course has written a book/books about it

and and and - you can even estimate lefthanded rates in auncient cultures - you rememeber spindles and hand spinning ? well if you are a leftie it looks S-spun if you look at it with a magnifier and Z-spun otherwise ( or otherwise I can never remember which way round )

and and and the answer is .... 8% - most cultures looked at
Stuey:
Your Latin is obviously better than that of the continuity guy on 'Carry on Cleo', who failed to notice that, upon being given the command "Sinister, Dexter", the soldiers were actually marching "Dexter, Sinister".
Et tu, Chrisius.
Didn't know it is Lefties day! I am very happy to be one as well....I remember getting cracked across the knuckles and made to put my pen/pencil into my right hand at school in the 40's, immediately putting it back when the teacher moved on,
couldn't cut straight till I got the hang of looking on the wrong side of the scissors somehow, tried lefty ones but couldn't cope with them either, use my knife and fork as everyone else, but spoon lefthanded......but I've reached 70+ with no probs. so it can't be all that bad

ade an awful hash of using scissors but have got the hang of it now
Lft-handed builder here ............... pet peeve ......... right-handed power tools. Dexters should try using a circular saw the wrong way around ;o)

Only two things I can think of that we are forbidden to do. Play violin in a symphony orchestra................ and play polo :o(
The Builder, the first time I used a radial-arm saw, I cut in the wrong direction and wondered why stuff was flying all around me: I was very lucky!
I bought a left handed tape measure but I had got so used to right handed tape measures all my life, I found it hard to use.
Stuey ... easily done ;o)

Vulcan ... I had no idea there was such a thing. I'm with you though. I'm so used to reading the numbers upside down, I think I'll stick with it.
All my life I've been looking for left handed forks & knives & spoons & also wine glasses, tumblers & even find it difficult to find left handed towels. I must also bring to your attention the fact that very often toilet roll holders are fixed on the right.
I would also like to ask another question, when I am out wearing my baseball cap I have seen many such headgear where the peak is at the back of the hat, is there a special hat shop where these can be obtained ?
There used to be a left handed shop in London but closed a few years ago, they are still in business on line and also run a left handers club.
whiskeryron, you may laugh but there are left handed pencils available.
