Just want to ask this in case I'm becoming old fashioned (36 this Saturday!!) but does anyone else think that my 44 year old neighbour having a sexual relationship with a 17 year old is disgusting? If I were her mother (assuming she is aware of all the facts) I'd go in and drag her out and give him a kicking. He's a chain smoking, alcoholic, fantasist and liar for good measure. No idea why I'm getting so angry about it, but just find it repulsive.

By all means find it disgusting.
But neither you nor anyone else can do much about it..........unless she is a 'vulnerable' person.
How do you know he's a fantasist and liar?

<<He's a chain smoking, alcoholic, fantasist and liar for good measure.>> Not called Andy Capp by any chance? As a parent, I would certainly be concerned about this but from the chain smoking, alcoholic etc not the fact he's 44 and she's 17
............or he is her teacher/tutor
There is little you could do, other than keep eyes and ears open, in case she is at risk, but young people think they know best, i know i did, but obviously we don't,
its only experience that teaches us a little more wisdom.
It's legal.
It may be distasteful to you but she's over the age of consent and it's none of your business.
im sure lots of people will agree with you , if you have the right details ..........some wont !!!!!!!!!!!
It's grim in my opinion. But unless she is vulnerable or makes any kind of noises that she's not happy about being in the relationship then there's not much people can do.

Sometimes these things work out I guess.
Now I am all for age gap relationships, but that is a bit too much of a gap I reckon, but then as has been said, nothing can really be done about it.

And maybe her mum doesn't have problem with it, although my age gap is smaller, my mum adores my fiancé who is 41 this year, all my family do and she has told me many times how happy she is for me to have finally settled down and stuff!
borderline peadophillia.....
<borderline peadophillia.....>

How?

Paedophiles are interested in pre-pubescent children. So below the age of 13 min.
cant see what they'd have in common. maybe it is purely a sex thing for him and a 'being looked after' thing for her.
Its just quite sad really
For both of them
ummmm 16 is the age of consent..this girl is 17..i call that borderline...
It's legal. It might not meet everybody's approval, but it really is nothing to do with anybody else. It's a rather large age gap, but its maturity that matters more than age. If it were my daughter I would be concerned I must admit but wouldn't be heavy handed about it. That wouldn't achieve anything.

It certainly isn't borderline paedophilia.
Hannng on... People with big age gaps can have things in common! I have more in common with my OH then I would probably have with most men my age.
Does also depend on the maturity of the 2 people.
Seventeen year olds vary considerably Stoke. I have met 17 year olds that are very mature and 40 year olds that are not. Perhaps they do have things in common . Perhaps she is a chain smoking, alcoholic, etc. as well.

I can't see what is repulsive about it. It may be that you find him repulsive. She obviously doesn't.
Agree Wiggal.
