Just heard a cuckoo

Just been out to walk the dog in the fields behind my house, by the coast on the Somerset levels and heard a Cuckoo, just wondered how many others here had also heard one or seen one yet this year? I've never seen one myself but most years do hear it.

I haven`t heard one for donkey`s years. When I lived in Devon we always used to hear the first cuckoo around 22nd April. My father said that they always come back to their birthplace each year. Something must have broken the cycle because they disappeared about 5 years ago and we never heard them from those particular woods again.

Yes I heard two calling to each other, but again this is in Hampshire :)

Heard the first one about three weeks ago, and since then I've heard them every couple of days, but I can't remember the last time I actually saw one and they're certainly no where near as numerous as they were just a few years ago

Lol, I did hear once that the best way to see a cuckoo was to mimic its call, if one is around it will soon turn up to see off its competitor. Don't know if that's true.

In my house, one pops up every hour, Cuckoo Clock.
First real one i heard was last year over the fields from where i live, amazing sound they make.

Heard first one this year on 30 April from the Wat Tyler country park near Benfleet in Essex. Heard a few on 7 May while walking between Staplehurst and Marden in Kent.
