Tomato plants

Two of my precious tomatos (Ferline) have got what i assume is neck rot A thinning of the stem just above root level. I have replaced them now but would be grateful for any advice on causes and cures.

Am i losing wieght too fast

Last week i wieghed and was 9st 10lb well today i stripped off butt naked and jumped on the scales and was 9st 4lb, boy was i surprised. But maybe not as surprised as the shoppers in Boots the Chemist
