Emails can't get through

I have got Outlook Express and there is an email or maybe several) obviously trying to get through, but a wndow keeps opening up saying 'error connecting to server' or something like that. Help!!!

Not a question but a warning - a friends dog has been bitten by an adder today in Thetford Forest. He started limping and within an hour his leg was really swollen and he is on a drip at the vets....
