Removing Screws

I have 4 screws on my splash back at cooker. I want to remove them but they are covered - how can I move the covers. Do I prise them off. thanks. They are stainless steel covers.

I am looking at an electrical item which is being advertised as "refurbished" and very cheap. Looking further down the page it then stipulates the item as being "new". Anybody help to explain this....
