Sorry to ask such a daft trivial question, but does anyone know which way up a horseshoe should go over the door? Someone said they should be upside down. Bought one today and dont want to tempt fate...

Type of paint?

I have wooden side entrance doors and they have been painted dark brown with creosote by the previous owners and I hate them. I want to paint then a different colour, but dont know which paint to use....
