Can anyone please explain to me why the answer to 22a, B - O = b (4), is BORN. Even with the answer I'm still none the wiser!!

So the clue is "B - O=b"?
Is there a theme or are any of the answers undefined?

Hi Fiction-Factory, no theme is given, and none of the answers are said to be undefined. There is a general pattern with many of the clues containing references to politicians/politics etc. but nothing to say that is a guide to the answers!!

So it could be something to do with Osborne? I assume my version of the clue was correct and BORN is definitely the answer. I can't work it out at all.
