I drove to have a word with MrG and replace the little tribute on his headstone.....I've given up with anything too tasteful and pricey. Got fed up with them being stolen.

Imagine my surprise when I found his headstone decorated with potted plants and a Union Flag???

The plants look nice on my patio.....will have to give the flag some thought...☺

That is a nice thing to do Clarion. A lot of years ago a young man I knew as a good friend was killed in a car accident when he was 18 years old, his friend owned the car and was showing off, he got out of it with a broken arm and bruises but my young man was killed. I visited his grave quite a few times and often thought about him how he would have been today, your post just reminded me.
Was MrG Irish too?

You can spot my families graves (dad, his 2 brothers and his sister and their uncle) are all buried close to each other. All graves have the Tri colours and Tipp flags. Every time someone goes to Ireland they bring me back flags...
my hubby Chief Stout was cremated two years ago, but I still go every week to the crem, he has a plaque and I take yellow roses his fav and chat to him for about half an hour, I feel awful if I cant go. My parents also have a plaque in the same row and my grandma round the corner as she and my dad did not get on, so that's 3 lots of flowers I take.

No...MrG was English.....very English.....☺.....took him a while to get used to us but he fitted in well in the end.......

The graves around his are very decorated.....the next but one is a child.....it's a double plot covered in toys....a huge pedal car...a beautiful bench.....birthday and Christmas presents.....so much stuff and so cared for........how hard it must be to bury your child.

As I said the two either side are hugely decorated.....his is plain and simple.....as he would prefer......and the one who says....that's why he chose you gets a clout!
the grave next to my gran and grandad only has a wee wooden cross and I always take flowers for him/her when I visit..and have a wee chat too...would be nice to know who it is...
Those wooden crosses, Murray, they are put there until the stone is erected. When the stone is erected they put it in front of the wooden crosses and leave the crosses where they are. I've got my dads and uncles in my hallway....morbid maybe, but..
the cross has been there now for 48 years ummmm !
Question Author
I took the wooden cross home when I had the headstone placed. There is a box missing from my move here and the cross is in it......god knows where.....

I was telling a friend this when she went quiet.....she had moved and I had reminded her that she had left her parents crosses planted behind bushes in her old garden......will the new occupants think they have bodies in the garden I wonder.......☺
it's a sign !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. put the flag on ebay, buy more bedding plants :)
Question Author
I'll go with that, Anne....if you tell me .....a sign of what!....x
That's sad Murray...

Gness...I want my crosses to be turned into candle holders. They just have 'in loving memory of 'name' from date to date.
Question Author
As mine did, Ummmm.....on a brass plate......bit miffed that someone will have found it and binned it...x
I'm going to pretty mine up and use them in the garden (when the garden eventually gets done...bloody Sligo men, only interested in tarmac and concrete!!)
