this is a step too far IMHO:

Females can carry out just about every job there is in HM Forces but infantry soldier/Special Forces is not and should not be one of them.
Maybe a handful would be up to the physical and mental challenge but there are extremes of situation and circumstance that females are just not suited for.

I don't think women are suited mentally or physically to combat. We are designed for having children and body shape and design are to bear and nurture babies. Without going in to too much detail there are plenty of reasons a woman would not be suited. Men and women are not interchangeable and should not be expected to be. Women flying fast jets are ok. have a read, it might show how wrong you are.

anyone can get injured, or killed come to that. it takes men to sort out brawling in the street. women just aren't up to the job, I'm afraid. you can jump up and down all you like in your cozy living room, behind your keyboard but if you ever find yourself in trouble you'll be delighted to see a big, ugly policeman coming around the corner to rescue you.
do you speak from knowledge, serving police officer perhaps, no, then aren't you sitting behind your cosy keyboard, i have been in the middle of situations where male and female officers were needed, they are suitably
armed, not always with guns, but tasers, batons, and are trained to use them. You don't seem to like women, perhaps that's your real beef.
most of the coppers i see are often pint sized, the days of height requirements on the force are long gone.

Interesting debate,

In an ideal world women on the front line would not affect the dynamics of the unit at all even if they are 100% capable and up to the job. Generally men will always feel a 'duty' to protect a female, even if said female is a respected and able colleague. In theory it would be brilliant to have women in close combat roles, but in reality is it worth the risk to the safety of the rest of the team?
that band of brothers, doesn't it also encompass women.
they protect each other, going on just about every article, programme, book, and endless study of war, WW1 in particular, that's what comradeship is about, but at the end of the day its not a glorified situation, and no serving serviceman or women would say it is. many come away from it battered physically and mentally.
