Paying An Inflated Delivery Charge For 2 People, When It Is Only Delivered By 1 Person?

Argos have a number of items that they charge for a 2 person delivery whereas it should only warrant a 1 person delivery such as a (90cmx38cm, 3.4kg) headboard.

So my question is if I pay 127% extra for the 2 person delivery and 1 person delivers it am I paying for a service that I did not get?

They informed me the "reason" for a two person delivery was because it was not sent out the next day.

Maybe if you ask them they'll tell the driver to walk up the path with the man carrying the headboard. Really the delivery charging system is for them to set and it's for us to decide whether to pay. If you can find a better deal elsewhere then go for that. But there is no harm in ringing to negotiate over the charge

its simple. Argos set out T and C including their delivery prices. If you want to purchase from them you do so under their terms and conditions, if not, then not.

It shouldn't make any difference how quickly it's sent out, surely - 2 people would go if it's a heavy item, or am I missing the point?
You are paying for the delivery of a headboard. If you are happy to pay that price then I don't see it matters whether a robot or 10 people deliver it. Maybe it's a van mainly of large items so needs two people in the van
When they said a two person delivery was needed because it was not sent out the next day, did you ask them to clarify it?
how do you know there weren't 2 people? did you see them bring it to your front door? could there have been another person in the van?
127% extra seems rather a lot though. How much is the delivery charge for a 2 person delivery?
Factor - £3.95 standard, £8.95 bigger items - 2 man delivery.

It seems to me that you accepted the delivery cost when you purchased the item - provided it was delivered on the agreed day and carried into your house, then I can't see that there is any reason for complaint.

Thanks for your answers all. Boxtops, exactly it doesn't make sense. Factor-fiction, I did, then she started to fob me off by oddly saying it was carefully handled by a courier not by themselves (which would be next day) and that courier would take extra care with deliveries. I'd be happy to pay the price but I, and 2 of the customer advisors I spoke to thought that the headboard would be single person delivery, which was also inline with 1 person required for assembly. This item is only available for delivery. Sunny-dave, I see what you mean, I've not purchased the item yet, but based on their wording "large items - delivered by 2 people", one would expect the item to warrant just that, but to pay the extra and have it physically delivered by one person (with the other remaining in the van) doesn't seem right to me. I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done but just thought to check here first.

Ed, I did answer....the reason for the charge is neither here or there, in fact if I was Argos, I wouldn't even get into reasons, i would just state the cost of delivery and leave it up to the customer to decide whether they wanted to buy or not.
