sandy its best to send a proper letter of complaint to their head office and if you can get the label off send that too, state where you bought it and date and send it recorded[not registered too pricey] they then have to acknowledge you sent it cant say it got lost in the post and they will send you vouchers definitely for more than you paid, if you take it back to the...

They have a Customer Service contact form - will that suffice?

What they done now, sandy?
Question Author
I think that will do nicely. Thank you, Ellipsis.

I bought some tins of skinless + boneless salmon and the one I opened tonight was stinking. It also had a different colour from the others.
Why not just take it back for a refund?
Ewwww. Take it back to the store tomorrow
Question Author
Apart from the fact that going back to the shop would involve £12 in taxi fares I'd rather vent my anger in an e-mail.
Is it Tesco own brand? Is it in date?
Tesco will ask you to return the product anyway - if there is a problem with the batch they'll need to take it off the shelves and send your tin off for analysis.
would have been cheaper to go salmon fishing....
Question Author
The sell by date is 2015 but the other tins I bought at the same time had a sell by date of 2017. It was also a ring pull tin and the others need a tin opener.
I find it far more satisfying to complain by phone even if I know the person is not in the least bit interested.
Question Author
Would have been cheaper going to the chip shop.
Sandy, I wish you good luck getting a sympathetic reply/response from Tesco. Once they've got your money, they don't care. Their "customer services" is a misnomer.
Good luck though. Let us know what happens.
xx
You could try writing to the company who produced the salmon.
Question Author
It has their own label on it.
Question Author
The e-mails dispatched. What can I expect by way of compensation, a case of tinned salmon, maybe?
They might send you a fresh one, sandy. Then you'll be in trouble.
Question Author
I'll throw it back if it's a tiddler. Back through their Lisburn Rd window where this sorry saga started. :-)

Hi,Janbee,I've been a Tesco customer for years and any time I've had cause to complain they've dealt with it right away.Once I ordered six packets of apples instead of six apples-didn't notice till the delivery man left. When I phoned them they sent someone to collect surplus apples .Perhaps I've just been lucky?
