Where do you stand on the subject of weather presenter Sian Lloyd being uninvited from the Blair wedding yesterday, as documented in the Mail? Strikes me she has leaked the story herself, and if that's the case I'm not surprised she wasn't welcome. Surely it's up to the couple getting married who gets invited, and if they don't want her there....

'DON'T MENTION THE WAR', sound advice apparently. /// Friends said Miss Lloyd, 55, has made no secret of her staunch opposition to the war in Iraq and has been strongly critical of Mr Blair’s ‘warmongering words about Syria’. /// /// This, she feels, might lie behind the snub, even if only in part. /// /// While her comments were never delivered...

Ah...so it was all a silly spat over two women's appearance...now I understand !
Mrs O didn't say it was about appearance. An ex-wife and a current wife .... it could be a lot of things.
mikey...where did I mention the word appearance??????

The ex wife was just p*ssed off because she lost at can you insert a dinnerplate into your mouth.
TBH - who cares?
Did she turn up? I'm sure I read somewhere that she said she was going regardless.
I hope they threw her out, then.
As I understood it she had said something about wife #1 to the daughter and that turned into a lot of agro and thus the uninvite.
The poor dad/husband isn't in a place to be envied.
Maybe she knew it was gonna rain so rather than get wet she opted to stay at home
I thought tony booth had died
That would have made him too sick to attend I guess

what a very low key wedding, obviously no OK deal and the trappings were reserved and quite chic really, nothing flash and over the top, very pleasant to look at the photos, bet those bridesmaids frocks came from debenhams online
Oo-er! Euan looks a bit like Ed Miliband!

Ed and David Milliband recently discovered they have another brother....a 70s rock star called Steve. geddit?
LOL, yeah I get it.
I think it shows appalling manners to 'univite' someone from a wedding, especially the wife of the bride's father.

Admittedly, this is only 'news' because Sian Lloyd is on television, but even so, a degree of protocol needs to be observed.

From my experience of weddings - my own, and three daughters' - the words 'marriage' and 'trouble' go together like the proverbial horse-and-carriage. You cannot escape issues, only hope to minimise them, and try to ensure that the day runs smoothly.

To 'uninvite' a prominent guest is not the way to go about minimising problems.

For the sake of the couple, whom I assume are in agreement with Ms Lloyd's attendance, the bride's parents should have sorted their differences at another time. making a point to an unwanted guest in this way is not the way towards a smooth-running happy memorable day for the bride and groom, and they are the ones who matter in all of this - squabbling in-laws can park their differences.
can't stand the woman. She has just made this wedding all about her her her. I wouldn't want her at my wedding either.
Really salla, she would be able to tell you what the weather is going to be like on the day !.
