Could someone explain what on earth Brummie is on about? Maurice says all the clues are 'perfectly parse-able', but for the first time ever I'm none the wiser even with the answers. Which seven clues needed a 'leading lady'? Stumped and cross...

In 13a PAT is missing from the def (the wordplay includes everything) defn given is for riot - a disturbance Similarly in HOLLYWOOD - holly is missing from the defn - defn here only gives wood

Thank you both, but I still don't 'get' it. You can arrive at, and I did, both 13a and 29 (patriot, hollywood) without adding 'a 14 27'. Perhaps I'm missing something in Brummie's rubrik?
I couldn't even get 'leading lady'
Have only managed to do about six of them so far.

And Tilly2, I resorted to a lot of help from the usual crew here...and still haven't finished. But the sun is shining...
