Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

How Many Combinations?

Not a quiz as such and no prizes for the answer but I've been trying to work this out to no avail

On modern vehicle number plates like AB 12 AAA the last three letters are random
My question is how many combinations of three letters are there - from AAA to ZZZ and what is the formula for working this out ?

If we ignore the factors that I'll mention below, there are 26 possibilities for each position so that's 26 x 26 x 26 = 17576. However, in practice, certain letters aren't used in car registration numbers. (I & Q aren't used within the last three). So the sum becomes 24 x 24 x 24 = 13824.

Letters that spell out rude words aren't used either.

And I doubt if UDA, UFF, UVF, or IRA, would ever appear on a number plate
